Reflecting Back On 7 Years At GreyB – Ft. Navneet Kaur

It’s a rare occurrence in the fast-paced corporate world to find someone who has dedicated seven years to a single workplace. Therefore, when I read about Navneet celebrating her 7-year work anniversary at GreyB, I was as intrigued as everyone else to know about her journey. Somehow, she knew what we all were thinking and shared her journey of years through an email.

Let’s look at her reflections on the past seven years at GreyB, including her ‘aha’ moments, favorite fun memories, and the profound transformation she has experienced personally and professionally.

Has it really been Seven years since you started here? I guess time flies when you’re having fun.

As I cherish my journey at GreyB, here are a few questions that my team asked me and I would love to share the answers with each one of you.

What has been your biggest learning this year? Your ‘Aha’ moment??

It’s difficult to pinpoint the biggest learning. However, one particular experience that stands out for me was my involvement in a leadership meeting, where I had the opportunity to contribute to major decisions aimed at improving efficiency and overcoming various challenges to achieve our half-yearly goal. What struck me during this process was how, when given specific topics to think about, I could come up with solutions for big problems. It highlighted that while we may be aware of problems, we often fail to engage in solution-oriented thinking actively. If we keep on actively thinking about solutions, we can come up with very good ones.

Work and fun are sometimes difficult to use in a single sentence. But GreyB tries a lot to make a few things fun, memorable, and humorous. I always wanted to know what is your favorite fun memory at work!?

I would like to share two 😀 –

When my first mentee, Shivam, started working with me, we collaborated on a project. On the day of the final delivery, Nikhil asked Shivam to generate an FTP, but Shivam was unsure how to do it. He mentioned that Nikhil had asked him to create an FTP, so I reassured him, saying I’d take care of it. I contacted Manoj, who was responsible for generating FTP for large files, through email. Shivam, unaware of this, went home and spent the evening trying to figure out how to generate FTP. He watched some YouTube videos but couldn’t grasp it.

The following day, he returned and asked me, ‘Navneet, can you teach me how to generate FTP?’ I casually responded, ‘Oh, it’s simple. Just put the file in the Ops folder and send the link to Manoj, and he’ll handle the FTP generation.’ His reaction was priceless when he realized he had spent the whole night learning something unnecessary. We had a good laugh about it.

Another memorable experience was when we organized a game “treasure hunt” throughout GreyB. At the time, I was a member of the mile team, and I was the one who came up with the idea. Our team decided to hold this event on a working Saturday and spent a week getting everything ready and gathering various items for the hunt. It was a huge success, and everyone had a great time.

If you reflect back today, what would you tell about these past 7 years to someone who knows nothing about your work and workplace?

Over my 7 year journey here, I’ve not only grown professionally but also personally. I’ve consistently met new challenges that keep me going. My learning has never ceased. Whenever I felt like I was hitting a plateau, a new challenge or opportunity arose. My ideas and solutions were valued, which has been a great motivator. I’ve always found it interesting to work on diverse projects. Managing client accounts has been a big responsibility that I’ve wholeheartedly embraced. I’m now leading a team of 12 members, a role I couldn’t have envisioned 7 years ago. People here are incredibly helpful and supportive.

Regards,

Navneet

As we conclude this article, Navneet’s journey through seven years at GreyB clearly shows that dedication, growth, and a supportive workplace can lead to remarkable personal and professional transformations. While we celebrate Navneet’s milestone (and look forward to many more), don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments on what makes you stay in an organization.
