Value Delivered

The client formed a solid application to file a petition for Inter partes review on multiple grounds using the prior art provided by GreyB’s patent invalidity team.

Problems Solved

The process of identifying top-tier prior art results for a biometric electronic device is a complex and challenging task, particularly given the intricate structure of such devices. In this project, the challenge was to identify the exact structure of a sealant as disclosed in the subject patent.

Despite conducting a comprehensive invalidity search with over 2000 patent and non-patent literature sources from various potential areas, initial difficulties were encountered in identifying significant outcomes. However, by disembelling the problem statement of the subject patent, three areas were pinpointed where top-tier prior art was ultimately identified.

Solution Offered

Figured out all the possible areas that use the novel feature of the target claim. It involved exploring various industries by understanding the building of their respective complex inner structures.

Traditionally, the process would have involved searching only the consumer electronic devices, but a deeper understanding of the claim led to an exploration in other areas such as medical domain. As a result, a strong prior art was found not in one but in three industries.
