I recently attended CES 2023 and l felt so excited when I got to see all the cool new tech that companies were working on.  

One of the things I really found cool was Qualcomm’s Digital Chassis. It can convert a car into a platform that can control all the digital devices around you.

And like this, there is a lot of cool stuff that car companies are doing. Like you may have heard about China’s Li Auto developing a series of “soccer mom” cars. They’re made with big interiors and large screens for family trips and picking up kids.

Or how Canoo develops “lifestyle” vehicles for campers. Or BeyonCa, building vehicles for in-car health monitoring. 

This is actually a new style of car making. 

The founder of PerceptIn Dr. Shaoshan Liu calls it scenario-driven car making.

He believes our intelligent electric vehicles (IEVs) should be crafted to fulfill a very specific customer need. 

It’s like how some people use smartphones for work, for play, and for a lot of other things apart from just communicating. Similarly, our future cars will do much more than take us from point A to point B. 

And apart from this new idea of car making, there are a lot of new and innovative approaches that startups are trying with their IEVs.

Like Nikola, which has been developing a hydrogen fuel cell truck and even received a $1.7 million grant from the US Department of Energy.
