Recently Florida International University developed a bio ingredient with the power to act as a broad-spectrum antiviral agent. (US20230181515A1)

This innovation stems from biomaterials synthesized from vegetable oils, known for their unique and valuable properties, including stabilizing and therapeutic effects.

Florida International University has derived polyol from linseed oil that can be combined or blended with another therapeutic agent. 

The university has found this effective in treating or preventing infection caused by harmful species like Agrobacterium, Streptomyces, Pseudomonas, and Staphylococcus. 

The secret behind its antiviral prowess? The polyol interferes with the sugar alcohol metabolism of these disease-causing agents.
