Do your cosmetics contain these banned ingredients?

April 3, 2023

Have you figured out a way to remove Octocrylene and Oxybenzone (or Benzophenone -3) from your cosmetics?

These troublesome two are unsafe at higher concentrations and have even been banned in many tropical areas such as Hawaii and the Palau Islands, since they harm the local fishes and coral reefs.

The EU has given companies until July 28th, 2023, to reduce these two ingredients from their cosmetics.

In case you haven’t found a way to reduce or kick them out of your products, we have created a list of startups that are making cosmetics that are free of these no-no ingredients.

You find the startups here- https://www.greyb.com/blog/bp-3-and-octocrylene-free-cosmetics/

One of the startups in this list is the Swedish company Suntribe. Their sunscreen is free of all synthetic chemicals, waterproof and made for different skins and climates.

Another one, Amazinc from the Czech Republic has created a sunscreen with a mix of magnesium oxide and non-nano zinc oxide. It makes the sunscreen SPF 50, friendly to our skin and kind to our reefs.

Here are the rest of the EU rules complying startups for you- https://www.greyb.com/blog/bp-3-and-octocrylene-free-cosmetics/

If you know someone who might find these insights as refreshing as a dip in the pool on a hot summer day, please share this article with them. Sharing is caring!
