Industry Problem

Rushnu is tackling the problem of carbon-intensive chemical manufacturing and the inefficiencies of centralized supply chains by converting CO₂ emissions into valuable chemicals on-site. This addresses both climate change and lack of access to essential chemicals in underserved regions.

R&D Focus

Rushnu is pioneering research and development at the intersection of carbon capture and green chemical production, focusing on a niche segment that transforms CO₂ emissions into valuable industrial chemicals through its dual-catalyst CarbonCatalyze™ system. By integrating carbon capture with decentralized, on-site chemical synthesis, Rushnu is creating a scalable, revenue-generating alternative to traditional CCS, enabling industries to reduce emissions while producing essential products such as solvents, polymers, and water treatment chemicals.

Innovative Solution

Rushnu’s solution, CarbonCatalyze™, addresses the challenge of carbon-intensive chemical production by capturing CO₂ emissions at the source and converting them into valuable green chemicals using a dual-catalyst system. This modular, on-site technology eliminates the need for centralized manufacturing and long-distance transport, making chemical production safer, more sustainable, and economically viable, especially for underserved regions.

Solution Effectiveness

Rushnu’s CarbonCatalyze™ technology has the potential to eliminate **500 million tons of CO₂** by replacing conventional, carbon-intensive chemicals with its carbon-negative alternatives. The targeted market for these green chemical products is valued at **$65 billion**, highlighting both the environmental and economic impact of the solution. Additionally, the system’s design enables **immediate value generation** through on-site production and use, reducing energy costs and emissions while avoiding the need for costly logistics or storage infrastructure.

Star Product

CarbonCatalyze™ is Rushnu’s star product because it uniquely integrates carbon capture with on-site green chemical production, transforming CO₂ and salt into valuable industrial chemicals. Its dual-catalyst system enables continuous operation, closed-loop catalyst reuse, and immediate revenue generation, making it a scalable, sustainable, and economically viable alternative to traditional carbon capture and centralized chemical manufacturing.

Demo Product or Complete Product?

Rushnu has not commercially launched its CarbonCatalyze™ product. The technology is currently in the pilot phase, with two demonstration projects announced in October 2024 in partnership with Silicon Valley Clean Water (SVCW) and the City of Livermore. These pilot projects are scheduled to commence in 2025, marking the initial deployment of CarbonCatalyze™ in real-world industrial settings.

M&A and Collabs

Collab

Rushnu partnered with SVCW in 2024 to pilot its CarbonCatalyze™ technology, aiming to capture CO₂ from biogas and convert it into essential disinfection chemicals on-site. This initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions, lower chemical costs, and minimize environmental impact by decreasing truck traffic associated with chemical deliveries.

Collab

Rushnu collaborated with the City of Livermore in 2024 to implement its technology at a municipal facility. This project aligns with the city’s Climate Action Plan goals by reducing emissions and supporting innovative decarbonization technologies.
