Innovation

Industry Problem

Graphyte is solving the problem of ineffective and costly carbon removal by offering a solution that is permanent, affordable, and scalable.

R&D Focus

Graphyte’s research and development focuses on permanent carbon dioxide removal through biomass-based carbon storage. Operating in a niche segment of low-energy, engineered carbon removal, the company uses agricultural and timber waste to develop scalable, affordable, and durable CO₂ sequestration through its proprietary Carbon Casting technology.

Innovative Solution

Graphyte is solving the carbon removal challenge through its proprietary Carbon Casting technology. This process uses agricultural and timber waste—materials that would otherwise decompose or be burned—and transforms them into dense, carbon-rich blocks. The biomass is first dried to eliminate microbes and moisture, then compressed and sealed in an environmentally-safe, impermeable polymer barrier.

Solution Effectiveness

Graphyte’s Carbon Casting solution is highly effective, offering over 1,000 years of carbon permanence while maintaining levelized production costs below $100 per ton—far more affordable than most engineered removal methods. It uses minimal energy by relying on natural photosynthesis and low-energy drying and compression processes. The technology retains nearly all the carbon captured in biomass and is designed to scale rapidly, with the capacity to remove billions of tons of CO₂, making it one of the most practical and durable carbon removal solutions available today.

Product

– Graphyte’s Carbon Casting technology uses readily available biomass, such as timber and agricultural residues, which are dried, compressed into dense carbon blocks, and sealed with an environmentally safe, impermeable barrier. These blocks permanently store the captured carbon by preventing decomposition and are then securely stored in monitored underground sites. – Customer Review- “By combining the strength of nature-based approaches with the lasting impact of engineered removal, Graphyte has created a unique solution that accelerates progress toward the billions of tons of carbon removal needed to protect our planet,” – Carmichael Roberts of Breakthrough Energy Ventures.

Star Product

The star product is Carbon Casting. It stands out because it offers a durable, affordable, and immediately scalable solution for permanent carbon dioxide removal by combining nature’s photosynthesis process with engineered storage, enabling the removal of billions of tons of CO₂ at a fraction of the cost and energy required by competing technologies.

Demo Product or Complete Product?

Graphyte announced its Carbon Casting technology and the launch of the company on November 13, 2023. On the same day, the company officially introduced its Carbon Casting method, a technology designed for the permanent removal of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Future Plan

Market Expansion

Graphyte is exploring multistate expansion opportunities, particularly in the Southeastern and Western United States for growth of its business.
