Airbuild’s microalgae-powered biopanels demonstrate remarkable efficiency: each panel captures up to 200 kg of CO₂ annually, equivalent to the work of 15 mature trees, produces up to 400 watts of clean energy, and filters 500 gallons of water per year by removing organic contaminants, nitrogen, and phosphate. At scale, their biopods can capture 550 tons of CO₂ and filter 600,000 gallons of water per hectare annually. Additionally, Airbuild aims to reduce carbon capture costs to under $50 per ton, significantly lower than the industry average of $600–$1000 per ton, making their solution both impactful and economically viable.
