Beauty Industry is Breaking Up with Forever Chemicals
An award-winning Israeli startup has found a PFA and silicone alternative for your cosmetic products.
Thanks to the PFA ban in the US, some of our cosmetic products with “forever chemicals” may not live to see their “happily ever after”
And while we do have silicones as replacement, we might have to bid them adieu too, since they have been under regulation by the EU.
Lubrizol, a cosmetic startup, has thankfully come to aid with their SilSence Bio 5. It is an alternative to silicone as a sensory modifier in cosmetic products.
This silicone alternative is claimed to enhance hair softness, smoothness, volume, and frizz control, while also moisturizing the scalp. It works the same as PFA in hair products.
And the claim must be true since this product got Lubrizol an award at In-Cosmetics 2023 and Silver in the 2023 Makeup Bar Award at in-cosmetics® Global.
They had also concocted beauty product alternatives to petroleum and mineral oil in collaboration with Advonex Beauty.
Lubrizol’s solution is one of the 5 solutions to PFA alternatives we have found through scientific and patent literature.
Other alternatives we found involve fatty acids derived from Estolide oils, biodegradable synthetic wax, Polyamide powders and Polyethylene-based wax.
