The Planeteers solution accelerates the natural process of limestone weathering, where atmospheric CO₂ reacts with water and limestone to form bicarbonate, a stable compound naturally stored in oceans for thousands of years. Using their advanced reactor technology, they speed up this reaction from thousands of years to just minutes, converting CO₂ into mineralized water (hydrogen carbonate) that can be safely and permanently stored in the ocean. This approach neutralizes large amounts of carbon dioxide quickly and sustainably, enabling effective carbon removal from both industrial emissions and the atmosphere.

Solution Effectiveness

Planeteers technology has demonstrated rapid carbon capture capabilities, with prototypes progressing from handling over 60 tons of CO₂ in 2023 to plans for industrial units capturing 2,500 tons by 2025, scaling to 10,000 tons by 2026, and targeting a global roll-out of 1 million tons by 2030. Their long-term goal is to achieve a capacity of 1 gigaton of CO₂ removal by 2047, showcasing significant potential to make a large-scale impact on climate change through fast, permanent carbon mineralization and ocean storage.
