NeoCarbon

NeoCarbon is revolutionizing climate change mitigation by significantly reducing the costs associated with Direct Air Capture (DAC). Their innovative approach involves retrofitting existing industrial sites with modular DAC units that utilize waste heat from cooling systems, thereby drastically cutting energy costs. This strategy eliminates the need for new infrastructure and accelerates deployment, making carbon removal more affordable and scalable. NeoCarbon’s solution can capture up to 62.5 tons of CO₂ per year per unit with high purity levels, potentially scaling carbon removal to gigaton levels annually. Their patented technology, which combines waste heat reuse and existing infrastructure, positions NeoCarbon as a cost-effective and scalable solution for DAC.

Innovation

Industry Problem

NeoCarbon aims to solve the high cost and scalability challenges of Direct Air Capture by reducing energy use through waste heat and avoiding costly new infrastructure, enabling large-scale, affordable carbon removal.

R&D Focus

NeoCarbon focuses its R&D on scalable and cost-effective Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology by leveraging waste heat and retrofitting existing industrial infrastructure. Their niche lies in transforming cooling system waste heat into an energy source for CO₂ capture, developing custom sorbents, and designing modular units that seamlessly integrate into industries such as cement, vertical farming, and food retail.

Innovative Solution

NeoCarbon’s solution involves retrofitting existing industrial sites with modular Direct Air Capture (DAC) units that use waste heat from cooling systems to power CO₂ capture, significantly reducing energy costs. This approach eliminates the need for new infrastructure, accelerates deployment, and enables permanent carbon storage or reuse, offering a scalable and affordable way to remove carbon from the atmosphere.

Solution Effectiveness

NeoCarbon’s solution can capture up to 62.5 tons of CO₂ per year per unit using their largest module, with CO₂ purity levels reaching up to 99.99%. By tapping into hundreds of thousands of existing waste heat streams, their approach has the potential to scale carbon removal to gigaton levels annually, making it one of the most cost-effective and scalable DAC solutions available.

Products

Product

– NeoDuo – Small-scale DAC unit capturing about 5 kg of CO₂ per day, suitable for onsite CO₂ needs in smaller facilities or pilot applications. – NeoCore – Medium-scale DAC module housed in a 20ft container, capturing around 5 tons of CO₂ per year, designed for integration with existing industrial sites.” – Customer Review – “Leading Climate experts, such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, are pressing for measures to Carbon dioxide emissions as quickly as possible, but also an active withdrawal of CO2 from the atmosphere is inevitable. Neo Carbon is a key player in this important mission.”

Star Product

The star product is NeoCore, because it offers an optimal balance of scale, efficiency, and ease of integration by fitting into a standard 20ft container, capturing 5 tons of CO₂ per year. This makes it highly scalable for existing industrial sites, enabling significant carbon removal without the need for new infrastructure or major operational disruptions.

Demo Product or Complete Product?

NeoCarbon’s first product was the NeoDuo, a compact Direct Air Capture (DAC) unit designed for small-scale CO₂ capture. Launched in Spring 2023, it served as a fully autonomous demonstrator, validating the company’s approach of leveraging waste heat from industrial sites for cost-effective carbon removal. The NeoDuo successfully captured CO₂ with purity levels reaching up to 99%, providing valuable operational data and proving the feasibility of NeoCarbon’s technology.

M&A and Collabs

Collab

In 2024, NeoCarbon signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Cool Planet Technologies (CPT), a UK-based company known for its electric, membrane-based point-source carbon capture systems. This collaboration aims to integrate CPT’s technology, which captures CO₂ directly from industrial emissions, with NeoCarbon’s DAC systems that utilize waste heat from industrial processes to capture CO₂ from ambient air.

Collab

NeoCarbon has collaborated with Carbonaide in 2025, a Finnish company specializing in carbon mineralization in concrete. This collaboration focuses on capturing CO₂ from the atmosphere using NeoCarbon’s DAC technology and permanently storing it in precast concrete through Carbonaide’s carbonization process.
